About Katherine
Seeking support takes courage. Counselling is built on creating a safe, compassionate space where you feel heard, understood, and supported. My aim is to provide an environment where you feel comfortable to explore your identity, emotions, and thoughts with trust and confidence.
I was born and raised in Tasmania, and after travelling and living in different parts of Australia, I eventually settled in Western Australia, where I’ve called home for over a decade.
My journey into psychology and counselling was deeply personal. Growing up alongside a family member with severe mental health challenges, and later experiencing the devastating loss of their life, shaped my path. This experience gave me not only a strong sense of empathy for emotional suffering but also a determination to better understand the roots of mental illness. It inspired me to dedicate my life to supporting others through their own challenges.
Over the years, I have worked in a variety of settings, including prisons, disability services, group programs, and mental health and addiction rehabilitation. These experiences have deepened my understanding of diverse needs and the resilience of the human spirit.
After becoming a mother to two beautiful boys and facing my own challenges with birth trauma and postnatal anxiety; this deeply shaped my perspective. These experiences inspired me to move into private practice, where I could provide compassionate support to others navigating similar journeys.
I hold degrees in both psychology and counselling, and as a registered member of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA), I follow best-practice guidelines and provide evidence-based treatment. My work is trauma-informed, collaborative, and guided by cultural awareness and sensitivity.
“Words have magical power. They can bring either the greatest happiness or the deepest despair; they can transfer knowledge from teacher to student; words enable the orator to sway his audience and dictate its decisions. Words are capable of arousing the strongest emotions and prompting all men’s actions.”

Counselling Focus & Areas of Interest
My work is guided by a deep respect for the complexity of human relationships and the ways our early experiences shape how we connect, parent, and heal. My areas of focus include:
Relational Trauma — Supporting individuals to understand and heal from early emotional wounds, helping to build safety, trust, and self-compassion.
Birth Trauma — Providing space to process and make sense of difficult or unexpected birth experiences with care and validation.
Antenatal and Postpartum Mental Health — Supporting parents through the emotional changes of pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period.
Attachment — Exploring patterns of connection and trust, and helping to develop more secure, nurturing relationships with self and others.
Relationship Counselling — Assisting couples in improving communication, rebuilding connection, and deepening understanding and empathy.
Parental Support and Guidance (0–5 years) — Offering compassionate support to parents navigating the early years, strengthening parent–child relationships, and supporting emotional development.
I am deeply passionate about supporting clients through the challenges of parenting, attachment, relationships, and the perinatal journey. My practice is grounded in attachment and psychodynamic theory, with a focus on how early experiences and unconscious patterns can influence our wellbeing and the way we connect with others; while also working integratively, adapting each session to reflect the individual needs and experiences of my clients.
